Assessment, Therapy & Support
Speech Pathology Assessments & Therapy
Speech and language are two unique but often related areas of communication.
Speech refers to how we produce sounds and words. Concerns often relate to difficulty with clarity, lisps or speech sound errors.
Language can refer to expressive language, which is how we use words and sentences to communicate our wants and needs, or receptive language, which is how we understand others.
If your child is having difficulty with speech sounds or you have concerns about language development, including following instructions, sentence structure, vocabulary etc, we can help.

Early Intervention & Late Talkers
Early intervention is an area Speak Listen Learn is hugely passionate about!
Whether your child is a “late talker”, is showing signs of developmental delay or has a diagnosed disability, we work with caregivers to support attention, play skills and early speech and language.
Reading & Literacy Intervention
Speech Pathologists are uniquely equipped to support children with a range of literacy difficulties, including dyslexia.
At Speak Listen Learn we use only evidence-based intervention approaches to ensure your child has the best start and receives quality intervention.

Audiology & Hearing Testing
Are you concerned about your child’s hearing? Do they have a history of middle ear infections or delayed speech or language?
We offer comprehensive hearing testing for children from approximately 9+ months of age.
Assessment may include Visual Reinforcement Orientation Audiometry (VROA), Pure Tone Audiometry (via headphones, sound-field or bone conduction) and/or Tympanometry.
Group Programs
Speak Listen Learn loves running group programs and offers LEGO® therapy workshops during the school holidays.
LEGO® based therapy is an evidence-informed, play-based, child-centred, social communication program that can also target language-based communication goals.
We also run intensive literacy group programs at various times throughout the year.

Autism Assessment
Michelle is qualified and experienced in completing autism evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team.
She has completed training and accreditation in ADI-R, ADOS-2 and MIGDAS-2 and uses these as required, in conjunction with daycare, preschool or school feedback and direct clinical observation.
Referral for assessment can be made from your current paediatrician.
Autism Support & Intervention
Many of the children we work with here at Speak Listen Learn are autistic/on the autism spectrum.
When working with children and families we take a strengths-based approach, acknowledging that autism is a neurodevelopmental difference in brain functioning. This doesn’t ignore challenges or struggles, or negate the benefits of therapy in supporting individuals and families to build skills.
We accept, acknowledge, and value all modes of communication- not just verbal communication.
Children (and adults) learn best when regulated. Our approach to therapy considers, respects, and acknowledges the physical, emotional, and sensory needs of each child.

Key Worker Supports
An NDIS keyworker is a central point of contact who supports a child and their family by coordinating their therapies and supports. They are usually a therapist already working with the child, such as a speech pathologist or occupational therapist.
The keyworker works closely with the family to understand their goals, provide guidance, and ensure all the services in the NDIS plan work well together. They also help communicate with other professionals and service providers, making things simpler and more organised for the family.
Supervision & Training
Michelle provides training in person and online to community groups, daycares, preschools, schools and organisations on a variety of topics including:
- Hearing loss
- Supporting neurodivergent children and students
- Speech, language, play and social development in early childhood
- Transitioning to primary school or high school
- Navigating the NDIS
In addition, Michelle offers limited individualised supervision to clinicians in specific areas of clinical practice.
